a shadowed face in day
bright as youth
strewn with lights and broken
the wheel
the cart
the garden nursery
wet of dawn
soil fat with darkness
fat with ruin
born again

solitude of embrace
her weeping smile
kiss of the hereafter

a wet afternoon
a lichen stone
a woman's face on a mossy quilt
which cannot feel
which can only be felt

In unknown darkness die revolving days -
Long-coursing, ever-hunting Night
Finds burning Phoebus' traced lines of light,
Fatigued, and dew-drop'd web of weeping glades

Evaporate.

All is undone
a burning breeze winds and unwinds
the stars' trembling ribbons
eyes flash from oncoming cars
unaccountable shadows hold their breath
The heart is a child lost at night in the black forest of the mind

It's hard
because I love you
and easy because
I trust you

Even when hearts choke in the darkness

And blowflies born in black clouds
from clods of reeking meat
on swinging hooks
darken the sky
with their trembling mirrors

Even when wailing fear, blind with weeping,
stumbles through the endless cave

You are here
gathering flowers in the bright garden
waiting for me
to be born

The hearts labor can never be too freely given nor too dearly sold
